This Christmas Day

This Christmas day I ask myself, “What have I to bring?”

This Christmas day I ask myself, “What have I to give,”

To this holy infant born so that man, would live,

His birth prophesied by many, ages before His time,

The righteous Branch that would sprout from David’s royal line,

This Christmas day I ask myself, “What have I to bring,”

For unto us a son was given, who is the King of Kings,

Forsook He heaven’s throne to be born as one of the least,

Yet the heavens drew both man and beast to worship at His feet,

* * *

This Christmas day words fail me, what truly can I say,

But “Glory to the Saviour King, come to set us free,”

To live with us, He concealed His glory in a physical shell,

To reveal God’s grace to man that stood, long before man fell,
